Report templates for busy teachers
Report templates for busy teachers
Our Canva Education report templates provide a structured, editable format for teachers to capture a well-rounded picture of each student's skills, achievements, and personal reflections for modern and visual yearly reports. Move beyond school reports with just grades to share a richer student profile with parents, carers, and potential employers.
Traditional yearly reports provide only a narrow picture of achievement and development.
Only academic measures are shared with parents, neglecting pupils strengths in other areas.
Wider essential skills for life are often missing from school reports and pupils' own voice and reflections on learning are unseen.
Report templates are more visually appealing and engaging for parents.

When you purchase a template from us, you will download a pdf with a link to your chosen template. You need to sign up for a free Canva account (super easy). You will then make a copy and you can then edit and adapt it!
You can put in text, links to pieces of work, photos of activities or work. You can edit or add sections. You can evidence extra-curricula experiences, trips, visits, sports and careers experiences. You can put in a URL to link to third party skills assessments tools, such as Skills Builder, and then insert a screen grab of any self assessment graphs or charts.
Like any text document, you will need to highlight a line of text or word, click on the 'Link' icon and paste in the document URL or website that you want parents/carers to access. Make sure that permissions are correct so that the document or file will open for them.
Inside Canva you will see the left hand tool bar. Click on Uploads, and then ensure you are in Photos and click the purple button 'Upload files'. You can then drag any photo of pupil activities or work over into the template and position it.
Once the report in Canva is ready you go to the top right hand corner and click 'Share' and then go down to 'Download'. It will take to a new box where you will select 'File type.' Click on the menu list and click 'Pdf Standard'. You can then email this as an attachment or attach where possible in your MIS system. If required, you can then lock the pdf file with a password as normal.
Yes! Once you have a free Canva account, you can share templates individually with students (if they are commenting on a personalised report that you have already started to write) or you can share the basic template with a group for them to add reflections and details to, before you start work on them. Students need to Sign in with a Google account or create a separate Canva account (must be 13 or over for a Canva account unless directly supervised by an adult).
Yes! Often teachers want to share more detail with parents and carers, particularly when pupils are working towards a qualification. You can create a portfolio like this secondary one, or this primary one (the examples are in Google Sites but there are many other tools you can use to build a simple portfolio website) and link to it from the Canva template by inserting the website URL into the Learner Profile template. Ensure that permissions in the portfolio website are correct for parents/carer to view.
